Heilongjiang Province, abbreviated as Hei, is
located at the northernmost tip of China. This
province spans an area of 460,000 square
kilometers with a population about 36.89 million
of different ethnic background such as Han,
Manchurian, Mongolian, Hui, Korean, Oroqen,
Hezhen, and others. Harbin is the capital city
of the province.

The beautiful mountains and rivers in
Heilongjiang present magnificent northern
scenery. In dense forests on the Xing¡¯anling
Mountains are forests resorts and natural hunting grounds.
The province is abundant in volcanic ruins. The
volcanic eruptions created Heilongjiang unique
and spectacular tourist resources. Lake
Wudalianchi is known as ¡°the Museum of Volcanic
Geology¡±. The marsh of Zhalong Nature Reserve,
where red-rested cranes gather, is reputed as
¡°the home to cranes¡±. Among Heilongjiang¡¯s other
tourist resources are Songhua River, Diaoshuilou
Waterfalls of Jingpo Lake, and Ruins of Ancient
State Bohao of the Tang dynasty. The province
has long and cold winters and short summers with
plenty sunshine. The frigid climate bestows
Heilongjaing rich resources of ice and snow.
Winters are golden seasons for ice and snow
programs including skiing, winter swimming,
skating, ice hockey and so on. Also the
exquisite ice and snow sculptures are known as a
spectacular of the North. Up to present, the
Yabuli and Yuquan Mountain skiing grounds are
ideal places for tourists to spend a holiday. |
