Dongting lake |

The Dongting Lake is the second largest
freshwater lake in China, stretching between
Hunan and Hubei provinces. Also known as the
800-hundred-li Dongting Lake, it connects the
Yangtze River to the north and the Xiangjiang
River, Zi River, Yuan River, and Feng River to
the south. As described by the name Dongting
(the abode of fairies and immortals), the lake
has fascinating scenery, with the most famous
feature of lake in lake, hill in lake. |

Fenghuang Ancient Town

Situated on the western boundary of Hunan
Province, The town is in the south of Xiangxi
Tujia and Miao Nationalities Autonomous
Prefecture. Enclosed by beautiful mountains,
blue skies and streams, the small town has been
living in tranquil and gracefulness for more
than 1300 years. Owning to its beautiful
environment and ancient buildings with the Ming
and Qing architectural designs, the town is an
other ideal tourist attraction |

Hengshan Mountain

Located in the center of Hunan Province, Mt,
Hengshan is one of the Five Sacred Mountains and
one of the Five most Famous Taoist Mountains.
Its 72 peaks form a range serpentining for as
far as 400 kilometers from Hengyang in the south
to the Yangtze River in the north. The summit,
called Zhurong Peak, rises 1,290 meters above
sea level. The Southern Sacred Mountain has a
long history, which has bestowed it abundance of
cultural relics, such as halls, monasteries and
steles. Main tourist spots include Zhurong Hall,
Hall of Storing Sutras, Nanyue (southern Sacred
Mountain) Temple, Fangguang Temple, Nantai
Temple, Magic Mirror Terrace, and so on. |

The highness of Zhurong Peak, the elegance of
Hall of Storing Sutras, seclusion of Fangguang
Temple and the oddness of the Water-Curtained
Cave are reputed as four wonders of the Hengshan
Mountain.

Wulingyuan Scenic area

The Wulingyan Scenic and Historic Interest Area
near Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, which has
an area of 264 sq km and over 3,000 peaks, is
called a place of ˇ°800 beautiful streamsˇ±. The
crystal clear water murmuring along valleys,
never want to stop singing, even during periods
of drought. The unique quartz-sandstone geology
of Wulingyuan is rare both in China and the rest
of the world. It still holds its virgin features
of the ancient plant communities of the Yangtze
River valley, and the ancient ginkgo trees are
called ˇ°living fossilsˇ±. World-renowned for its
grotesque peaks and stones, deep and secluded
valleys, beautiful streams and |

karst caves, the Wulingyuan Scenic Area includes
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley
and Tianzi Mountain. It is also a natural Zoo,
botanical garden and geological park as well. In
1992 UNESCO had it registered on the List of
World Natural Heritage Site.
