What is tipping practice for visitors to China? And how much should I tip them?

Answer: It is a common practice for visitors to tip tour guide and driver as the recognition of their good service. Meanwhile it is a good incentive system to encourage them to provide high quality services. Hotel bellboy expects your tips as well. But it is not customary to leave tips at hotel or local restaurant as the bill usually includes 10-15% service charge.
Since tipping is the recognition of the good service of tour guide and driver by guest, you can tip them at your own will. The common practice is 3 US dollars each day per person, 2 dollars for tour guide and 1 dollar for driver.

Do I have to tip when join an organized tour?

Answer: Yes, you need to tip even though you join an organized tour.
The quotation we offered doesn't include the tips for the guides and drivers. So if you are satisfactory with their service, you need to tip them yourself.
