What currency should I bring?
Answer: For foreign tourists come to china had
better bring hard currencies, such as US dollar, Euro,
Japanese Yuan, British Pound or others. Because these
currencies could be easily exchanged into Chinese Yuan
in almost every hotel and bank.
Simple knowledge concerning Chinese currency: The
official currency in China is the Renminbi (RMB), or
¡°people¡¯s currency¡±. The basic unit is the Yuna (also
known as ¡°kuai¡±), which could also be divided into Jiao
(or ¡°mao¡±) and Fen. 1 Yuan equals to 10 Jiao, and 1 Jiao
to 10 Fen. Paper currency comes in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50
and 100 Yuan notes. Paper note of Jiao comes in
denominations of 1, 2 and 5. There are also 1 and 2 fen
notes. As for coins, there are 1 Yuan, and 5 Jiao, and
1, 2, and 5 Fens. While buy things from street venders,
small notes are preferred to be against fake money as
changes.

Shall I bring cash, traveler's cheque or credit card?
Answer: Each of them is ok. But we recommend you
to bring credit card and traveler's cheque since they
are safer than cash. But a small amount of cash is also
necessary.
Note: Some times traveler¡¯s cheque is not widely
accepted, some hotels and shopping centers prefer cash
and credit card.

Can credit card be used in China?
Answer: At present, the following credit cards
are accepted in China: MasterCard, Federal Card, Visa,
American Express, JCB and Diners Card.
However, these credit cards are only accepted at four
and five star, occasionally three star hotels and large
shopping centers where the Bank of China has branches.
Note: Loss of the credit card should be reported to one
of the branches of the Bank of China ASAP.

Where do I change money for RMB in China?
Answer: You can exchange your currency and cash
traveler's cheque at banks and, hotels. The exchange
rate is the same everywhere. But remember never exchange
your money with strangers who may give you fake money.

Are there ATM (automatic transaction machine)
machines in the major banks? Can I withdraw money at any
time from the machines or do I have to go through a
clerk during business hours? If so, are banks open on
Saturday?
Answer: Yes, the most banks of China have ATM
machines and you can withdraw money (Chinese Yuan) from
ATM machines of Bank of China at any time. And you can
also make a transaction through the bank clerk, there
would be no difference.
Their working hours of bank of china are 9: 00AM -17:
30PM from Monday to Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, the
working hours normally are 9:00AM - 15:00PM, but it may
vary with banks. So you are recommended to do it during
the working hours. The ATM machine of Bank of China can
accept most foreign credit cards, such as VISA, American
Express, Master Card and etc.

Can I use USD or RMB in Hong Kong?
Answer: USD & Chinese Yuan are not widely
accepted in shops & restaurants, but some shops do. Even
some of them do, but that their exchange rate will not
be so favorable for you. So we suggest you to exchange
your currency into HKD (Hong Kong dollars) from the
banks or the money changers before shopping.
